Six weeks old today!

We have a happy little guy!
Sweet Sander.
Sander now weighs about 9 1/2 pounds and his hair keeps getting lighter and lighter. While these photos don't do them justice, he has beautiful light blue eyes! We wonder if they will stay.
Sander is definitely happiest right on mama's chest when sleeping (he wakes if I put him down) and doesn't care to be put in his swing or bouncy seat very often. This means he gets tons of kisses and snuggles from his mama all day long, though it is a little hard to be so close all the time in the heat and humidity!

All dressed up for the "Not Quite Independence Day Parade" in Waterbury.
Waiting for the start of the parade.

Week 5, The Beach Bum

First day ever at the beach!
This little guy loves to sleep during the day. He's getting better at sleeping at night. We spent a few days on Cape Cod and as you can see, Sander found it quite relaxing. If he wasn't nursing, he was sleeping and enjoying the atmosphere that the breeze, sunshine, and seagulls gave him. It was very hot and humid so mama appreciated being able to put him down in his own spot to sleep.

The end of a lovely day at the beach.
At Sheep's Pond in Brewster as the day ends.

Intentional smiles come out daily now and they sure are cute!
Sander enjoys playing the stick out your tongue and make funny shapes with you mouth game.
Hanging out on the sofa (next to Oliver)
Spending some (diaper-less) time on the activity mat.
Learning how to grab for things!
Success!
Just plain cute.

Father's Day Weekend

Sander was taken on his first hike at 4 weeks old: an easy walk down Cotton Brook Trail.
He slept most of the way.
Lucy requested we take a "leafy" family photo and chose the spot where we should pose.
Sander and mama lounged at the Waterbury Reservoir while Matt and Lucy swam.
They got about an hour in before the rain came.

Weeks Two and Three

2 weeks old
Sander has been gaining weight like a champ! Today, at three weeks old, he weighs in at 8 lbs 4oz. He has already gained 1 1/2 pounds since his birth weight! I am not surprised since I am the one feeding him so many times around the clock. The boy likes to eat.

We had a hard week since we discovered that Sander had an upper lip tie and a tongue tie. After a lot of reading, we realized this was the root cause of his abdominal discomfort since was gulping in so much air at every feed due to a bad latch. Sander went to a specialist in NH who lasered these ties for him and we are very happy with the results. It was a simple process followed by relaxing craniosacral therapy, which we will continue weekly for awhile as Sander's tongue muscles learn to adjust to their newfound freedom.

Lucy asks to hold Sander many times every day!
Lucy continues to love Sander to bits and pieces. She wants to be a part of almost all of his activities. It is adorable. He learned how to grab small things with his fist this past week and she really enjoys having him hold her finger - it brings her so much joy. Lucy has given Sander a few nicknames. Our favorite is "Zapizoid"...who knows where it came from but it is pretty funny. She calls him "little man" most often.

Morning snuggle time is the best ever, period.
Sander's handsome profile, in camo.
Sander's first real bath at 2.5 weeks old.
Lucy was very willing to lend a hand.
Happy after his warm bath!
3 weeks old and working hard at it.
